About the position
The Plant Engineer at JBS USA is responsible for ensuring the reliability of plant equipment and minimizing downtime across all production areas. This role involves managing training programs, motivating compliance with safety standards, and actively participating in maintenance and operational improvements. The Plant Engineer will also develop capital investment ideas, maintain vendor relationships, and ensure adherence to USDA requirements, all while generating performance reports and managing maintenance personnel.
Responsibilities
- Ensure reliability of plant equipment and minimize downtime in all production areas.
- Establish and meet downtime and operational goals for warehousing, wastewater treatment, and utilities.
- Manage training programs to maintain the skill level of the workforce.
- Motivate compliance with plant safety programs while maintaining labor efficiency.
- Involve maintenance personnel in HAACP reviews to improve food safety.
- Maintain communication with operations and other departments to enhance overall plant performance.
- Assist the Plant Manager in continuous plant improvement.
- Ensure reliable operation of utility systems including steam generation and electrical distribution.
- Develop capital investment ideas to support plant profitability.
- Maintain relationships with contractors and vendors to supplement plant resources.
- Represent plant needs in discussions with corporate engineering.
- Develop a trusting relationship with the USDA to meet their requirements.
- Generate production reports, budgets, and performance measurements.
- Manage Maintenance Mechanics and participate in safety programs.
- Process maintenance downtime reports for management.
- Conduct Daily Maintenance Personnel meetings to review assignments and address issues.
- Interview and hire candidates for maintenance positions.
Requirements
- 10 years minimum of progressively responsible positions within industrial maintenance.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the food processing industry.
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in food production.
Benefits
- Salary range of $110k - $135k
