About the position

The Plant Engineering Manager at Dart Container is responsible for overseeing the engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing operations at a facility with approximately 200 employees. This role focuses on improving machinery and processes, ensuring efficient operations, and managing a team to achieve high standards in production. Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing facilities operations at the plant.
  • Develop improvements for machinery and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee a team of approximately 200 employees, ensuring effective management and leadership.
  • Implement reliability tools and strategies, including FMEA and RCA, to improve equipment reliability.
  • Communicate technical topics effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Train employees on technology, processes, and procedures to ensure operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Seven years of engineering, facilities, and/or machinery maintenance experience.
  • Seven years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of specific experience in maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and approachability.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with large, complex engineering projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering science and technology applications.
  • Understanding of reliability tools and strategies.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ten years of engineering, facilities, machinery maintenance, and/or reliability experience.
  • Five years of specific experience in maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience managing multi-shift or continuous operations.
  • Experience in paper converting, chemical or plastics processing, or packaging industries.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
