About the position

The Plant General Manager at Airgas is responsible for overseeing the operations of an industrial cylinder fill plant, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This role involves leading a team, managing production and repackaging of gases, and driving operational efficiency in a dynamic environment. The manager will also handle associate grievances, coach team members, and implement continuous improvement measures to enhance plant performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the production and repackaging of compressed and liquid gases into cylinders.
  • Lead a team and ensure safety in the plant operations.
  • Manage operations to drive efficiency in a cutting-edge environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of the industrial cylinder fill plant operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Investigate and report any injuries or accidents, resolving plant-related issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient plant, observing safety rules rigorously.
  • Coach and take corrective actions to improve performance of associates.
  • Handle associate complaints and grievances while ensuring compliance with pre-employment requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement continuous improvement measures in production methods and equipment performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor Degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience in an industrial setting required.
  • Proficiency in computer usage for data entry, extraction, and tracking plant performance.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage a high volume of paperwork accurately.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with the team.
  • Proficient in basic math and problem-solving, with the ability to interpret instructions.
