About the position

The Plant Industry Inspection Technician position at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture involves conducting technical inspections and enforcing regulations related to agronomic products and pesticides. This role is crucial for safeguarding plant resources and ensuring consumer safety in Pennsylvania. The technician will inspect production facilities and retail operations, investigate complaints, and assess compliance with established regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical inspections of agronomic products and pesticides.
  • Sample and enforce regulations related to animal food, fertilizer, seed, and pesticides.
  • Inspect production facilities and wholesale/retail operations for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Investigate and document complaints related to consumer protection and agricultural worker safety.
  • Assess pesticide application businesses and applicators for compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in agricultural or biological sciences with 3 credits in chemistry, 3 credits in plant science, and 3 credits in animal science; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's Class C Driver's License.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.

Benefits
