About the position

The Plant Industry Inspection Technician plays a crucial role in safeguarding plant resources and ensuring consumer safety in Pennsylvania. This position involves conducting technical inspections and enforcing regulations related to agronomic products and pesticides within the Bureau of Plant Industry. The technician will engage in various service activities to uphold state and federal compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical inspections of production facilities and retail operations related to animal food, fertilizer, seed, and pesticides.
  • Enforce regulations and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Investigate and document complaints related to consumer protection and agricultural worker safety.
  • Assess pesticide application businesses and applicators for compliance with established regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural or biological sciences with credits in chemistry, plant science, and animal science.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's Class C Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
