About the position

We are a wholesale propagation nursery located in Stayton, seeking a dedicated Plant Inventory Manager to join our production team. This is a full-time, year-round position that offers an entry-level opportunity with significant potential for career advancement. Our nursery operates with a workforce of approximately 40 full-time employees, many of whom have been with us for over a decade, reflecting our commitment to employee retention and growth. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 45 hours per week. The Plant Inventory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the inventory management processes, including data analysis, tracking, and entry. The role requires proficiency in inventory management software and other relevant tools such as Excel and Outlook. The manager will lead inventory crews in the field and greenhouses to collect essential inventory data, create size and quantity projections for spring estimates, and manage the allocation of products for summer, fall, and final inventory. Additionally, the manager will implement and maintain efficient inventory control procedures, ensuring data accuracy and integrity within the inventory management system. In terms of data analysis and reporting, the Plant Inventory Manager will analyze inventory data to identify trends and assist the production team in making informed decisions. This includes creating and distributing weekly harvest reports and monthly digging reports to the Production Manager during the harvest season. The manager will also provide insights for strategic decision-making, including sales reports and addressing discrepancies between estimated and graded inventory. Customer service is a vital aspect of this role, particularly during the grading and shipping seasons. The Plant Inventory Manager will manage plant inventory and assist with client orders as needed. A preference for Spanish-speaking candidates is noted, as a significant portion of our staff communicates in Spanish, enhancing our team dynamics and customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory crews to collect inventory data in the field and greenhouses.
• Create size and quantity projections for spring estimates.
• Data entry and management of graded numbers.
• Allocate product for summer, fall, and final inventory.
• Implement and maintain efficient inventory control procedures.
• Manage seed and plant lot number assignments and print plant labels for all areas of propagation.
• Analyze inventory data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
• Create and distribute weekly harvest reports to corresponding production areas.
• Create and distribute monthly digging reports to the Production Manager during harvest season.
• Provide insights to the Production Manager for strategic decision-making.
• Manage the ARGUS greenhouse climate control system.
• Assist with client orders for the shipping season as needed.

Requirements

• At least 3 months of experience in a related field.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum age of 18.
