About the position

The Plant Loader Operator at Knife River is responsible for operating and maintaining a front-end loader to ensure efficient feeding of conveyors, hoppers, and loading of trucks. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to operational protocols while working in various weather conditions. The operator will also perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining high production standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain front-end loader to feed conveyors and load trucks.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and site checks to identify unsafe conditions.
• Load trucks with road materials up to legal hauling weight limit.
• Maintain contaminate-free aggregate piles and inspect material for quality.
• Clean up spillage on the plant floor and check for worn-out flashing.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production issues.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations.
• Perform labor-intensive tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Preferred knowledge of Quarry/Aggregate plant operations.
• Experience with equipment maintenance and operation.
• Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and extended hours if needed.
• Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must meet employment standards regarding background/MVR checks.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience operating front-end loader and maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).
• Must have a 'safety first' attitude and strict adherence to safety requirements.
