About the position

The Logistics Manager provides leadership for the Logistics function at the Cincinnati Plant. This role is expected to be an active member of the plant leadership team and help set the direction for the entire plant. This position interacts with the Supply Chain Logistics and business teams. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Logistics Manager has a dotted line into the North American Logistics function. This position oversees a team that includes 4 direct reports and 2 indirect reports, managing the warehouse and mill, which consists of approximately 30 team members. The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning and logistics operations for the entire plant and warehouse. This individual will also be part of the plant's Central Safety Committee, contributing to the safety and operational excellence of the facility. The role requires a commitment to achieving Zero Loss, 90% Reliability, and 7% Usage on a daily basis, ensuring that production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards of quality, sanitation, and safety. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Logistics Manager will direct and lead plant staff in the development, prioritization, and implementation of key initiatives that support the plant Master Plan and key Logistics priorities. This includes ensuring effective communication between the logistics department and support resources at the plant and from within the organization. The Logistics Manager will also act as a liaison between the plant and other segments, supporting growth plans by optimizing the flow and costs associated with new product introductions, reformulations, and line extensions. The role involves developing and owning the Logistics budget, implementing productivity and holistic margin management ideas that align with the needs of the plant, OU, and Supply Chain. As a champion of human and food safety, the Logistics Manager will also serve as the program leader for the Logistic Management Associate early career program, coaching and developing team members to drive process leadership at the floor level. Creating an environment that encourages employee development and maximizing performance is essential, as is modeling the company and plant's behaviors and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business leadership that demonstrates commitment to achieve Zero Loss, 90% Reliability, and 7% Usage on a day-to-day basis.
  • Direct and lead plant staff in the development, prioritization, and implementation of key initiatives in support of the plant Master Plan and key Logistics priorities.
  • Ensure that production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards of quality, sanitation and safety.
  • Contribute as an integral part of the plant leadership team to drive the plant strategy and positive Labor Relations climate.
  • Ensure effective interchange of information between logistic department and support resources at the plant and from within GMI.
  • Act as a liaison between the plant and OU/Segment and support growth plans by ensuring the optimal flow and costs associated with new product introductions, reformulations, and line extensions.
  • Develop and own the Logistics budget. Develop and implement pipeline of productivity/holistic margin management ideas that support the plant, OU, and Supply Chain needs.
  • Be a champion of human and food safety and act as member of plant Central Safety Committee.
  • Serve as program leader of Logistic Management Associate early in career program.
  • Coach and develop platform FSA team members and drive process leadership to floor level.
  • Create an environment where all employees are encouraged & developed to reach their full potential in meeting department/business goals.
  • Ensure the proper selection, training, development and motivation of the team to maximize current and future performance.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Commitment to Safety and Continuous Improvement
  • Breadth of Logistics experience across divisions and/or channels
  • Strong understanding of overall plant operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of logistics upon the greater Supply Chain
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics operations, procedures and information systems (e.g., WMS/Red Prairie, SAP, scheduling, planning)
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive change
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and develop others

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous plant or warehouse management experience
  • Previous supply planning experience (scheduling, raw material planning, brand planning, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience leading others in projects or programs, and the ability to successfully interact with individuals representing other areas or interests
  • Experience with Foundational Systems, DDS, and other Zero Loss Culture problem solving tools.
