About the position
The Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of plant equipment through maintenance and repair tasks. This role involves using mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues, as well as maintaining necessary supplies for projects. The position requires a strong understanding of various mechanical systems and the ability to work with a range of tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Research, order, and maintain necessary supplies to support assigned work and projects.
- Use mechanics' tools such as wrenches, ratchets, sockets, hack saw, tape measure, and screw driver.
- Perform operations of major pieces of plant equipment.
- Identify and correct minor mechanical issues with equipment using mechanical skills.
- Perform stick welding and use cutting torch.
- Understand and interpret drawings or sketches.
- Use electrical troubleshooting skills to identify and correct minor electrical issues with equipment.
- Use voltmeter to perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Understand the basic principles of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Understand lubrication principles.
- Operate electric and LPG/Gas forklifts.
- Correctly complete work order forms.
- Correctly complete inventory forms.
- Follow 6S policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use job-appropriate tools.
- Proficiency in investigating, deducing and recommending corrective actions for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
