About the position

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic - Plumber at American Airlines plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of airline operations. This position involves complex maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repair of various building components and plant equipment, all while adhering to FAA regulations and company procedures. Responsibilities

  • Lay-out, plan, and execute complex maintenance assignments.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust building components and plant equipment.
  • Explain work procedures to personnel assigned to assist in maintenance tasks.
  • Complete forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
  • Communicate with other company personnel as required.
  • Request parts, clean work area, perform FOD walks, and connect/remove ground power and ground start units.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English or the native language of the geographical location.
  • Thirty-six months (36) or more journeyman experience in plumbing.
  • Possess the applicable state or city license.
  • Read and write legibly to complete forms and identify company part numbers, invoices, and shipper numbers.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions in accordance with Company Safety Guidelines.
  • Willingness to work extra hours when operational needs arise, such as weather delays.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Fulfill FAA criminal background checks for unescorted access to airport security areas.
  • Secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.
