About the position

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic I position involves troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in manufacturing settings, with a focus on equipment and utilities. The role requires a technician with foundational skills to ensure operational efficiency and safety in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, monitor, and maintain utilities including HVAC systems, WFI, and purified water setups.
  • Develop and secure a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
  • Recommend the purchase of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • Assist engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facility processes.
  • Provide technical support across production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, or product development.
  • Use schematics, diagrams, and verbal descriptions to perform tests and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Gather, maintain, format, and compile technical data, performing detailed mathematical calculations.
  • For higher levels, suggest and implement improvements to optimize work processes.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of systems, techniques, and procedures through work experience or education.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of relevant experience; vocational or technical education or certification may be required.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs and safety policies.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, computer system interfaces, and handling materials up to 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably Medical Device, including familiarity with cGMP, GDP, line clearance, and device history records (DHRs).
