About the position

The Plant Manager at Syncreon in Detroit is responsible for leading a team in a complex automotive environment, focusing on continuous improvement and optimization of operational processes. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and running day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations while ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale, and environmental objectives are met. The Plant Manager will also engage in strategic planning, employee relations, and community engagement to enhance the plant's performance and reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer expectations are met and/or exceeded within company guidelines.
  • Conduct quarterly presentations to customer senior management regarding scorecards and initiatives.
  • Participate in customer meetings to support strategic objectives.
  • Communicate with customers to demonstrate continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Meet company objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, and Environment.
  • Establish a 5-year business plan and annual budgets, ensuring targets are met.
  • Implement local initiatives for plant progression and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute lean manufacturing concepts and productivity tasks.
  • Prioritize activities to eliminate waste in operations.
  • Build a stronger salaried team to lead the hourly workforce.
  • Improve employee relations and morale through participation from shop floor personnel.
  • Enhance communication throughout the organization.
  • Work with Trade Unions to improve operations and limit emotional impacts on the workforce.
  • Identify and eliminate past practices affecting financial wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with business development to identify new business opportunities.
  • Ensure the plant maintains an appealing state for potential customers.
  • Promote a positive corporate image within the community.
  • Participate in quality and environmental management systems, supporting ISO 14001 compliance.

Requirements

  • A college or university degree related to manufacturing is preferred.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • Managerial experience at various levels in manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing/logistics background in the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Job experience in a Tier 1 operation is beneficial.
  • Background in production, materials, and quality control.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO TS 16949 management systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
