About the position

The Plant Manager at H.B. Fuller is responsible for overseeing the Maple Grove and Fridley, MN sites, ensuring a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational discipline. This role involves leading a team to meet customer requirements and implementing best-in-class practices in the adhesives business. The Plant Manager will also manage the customer complaint process and collaborate with various departments to enhance operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Site Production Managers, Site Engineers, and a Maintenance Manager and Warehouse Manager.
  • Understand, apply and drive safety as a value, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in housekeeping and 5S practices.
  • Develop and mentor plant leadership and field experts to maintain an engaged workforce.
  • Create and implement a vision for the Maple Grove and Fridley sites aligned with HB Fuller's overall vision.
  • Develop and execute organizational strategy for the sites in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Utilize effective management systems to measure site performance.
  • Set and maintain standards for on-time delivery of quality products.
  • Control costs through management of operational and capital budgets and continuous improvement projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial, marketing, operations, supply chain, HR, Finance, and R&D partners.
  • Facilitate teamwork within the facility and with external partners.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and prioritize work to focus on critical items.
  • Financial responsibilities for related cost centers, including T&E budget and capital expenditures.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive operations and operations management experience.
  • Proven track record of managing significant change in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in organizational development and team building.
  • Strong analytical interpretation and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive coaching, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to effectively address conflicts and disagreements.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA
  • Process Safety Management experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
  • Experience with continuous improvement techniques such as TQM, DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S.
  • Experience in distribution and warehouse operations.
  • Experience leading in a union environment.
  • Ability to speak Spanish.
