About the position

The Plant Manager at John Soules Foods is responsible for overseeing all operations at the RTE poultry processing facility in Valley, AL. This role involves managing daily production activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Plant Manager will lead a team to enhance productivity, maintain high-quality standards, and foster a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff to ensure production methods and procedures are followed and products are produced safely and efficiently.
  • Drive improvements in safety, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate activities of all departments utilizing excellent communication and developing efficient production methods.
  • Display a continuous improvement mindset and use progressive visual tools, production reporting, and performance measurement techniques to improve facility performance.
  • Ensure that Maintenance supports the operation effectively and efficiently, prioritizing maintenance reliability programs.
  • Utilize production data to manage the facility and provide timely, thorough, and accurate information to the company.
  • Work with other departments and their leadership to ensure service levels from the plant are met.
  • Recommend and research capital improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, or safety.
  • Develop and contribute to long-term strategic planning for the plant.
  • Ensure all plant employees are trained on procedures and adhere to regulatory expectations.
  • Work with the Manager of Quality Assurance to meet or exceed industry standards for quality assurance facilities and documentation.
  • Minimize and eliminate out-of-specification products produced or shipped.
  • Monitor audits and work with staff to correct deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the facility meets or exceeds security guidelines set forth by the company.
  • Work with Operations supervisory staff and Safety Manager to maintain a low lost time accident rate.
  • Participate in all Plant sanitation audits and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Develop and operate within an approved budget, focusing on staffing, supplies, maintenance, and utilities.
  • Build teams and unlock individual potential, fostering a culture that reflects the company's core values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years management experience in a RTE poultry processing plant manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • High level knowledge in RTE poultry processing equipment, GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and plant safety practices.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and understanding of MRP, material control, and inventory transaction reporting.
  • Commitment to the manufacture of safe, legal, quality food products.
