About the position

The Plant Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the remanufacturing plant in Marion, SC. This position focuses on driving performance excellence, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Plant Manager will lead the facility's management team to achieve business objectives related to productivity, quality, cost management, and recovery, ultimately maximizing profits while creating a motivated and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Canfor Safety Comes First culture by leading and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Lead, manage, and develop staff while supporting diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements and permits.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of annual business plans, effectively allocating resources to produce optimal results.
  • Promote a culture of performance management and continuous improvement, setting performance standards and holding the team accountable.
  • Represent Canfor positively within the community.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience at a minimum of Superintendent level in remanufacturing.
  • Minimum grade 12 education with post-secondary education in wood products, engineering, business management, or forestry is an asset.
  • A maintenance background is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates integrity with effective leadership and influencing skills.
  • Strong experience in continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Strong business improvement and performance management skills with knowledge of budgeting, planning, resource allocation, and human resources.
  • Resourceful and resilient with strong organizational skills to respond to changing business conditions.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post-secondary education in wood products, engineering, business management, or forestry.
