About the position
The Plant Manager at Seneca Foods is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. This role involves coordinating various departments, managing labor costs, and ensuring that all products meet quality specifications. The Plant Manager works closely with the Director of Operations and Quality Assurance Manager to fulfill customer orders and maintain regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Production Supervisors and Foremen, as well as the Maintenance Department.
- Manage the environmental and performance risks to establish and maintain an accident-free workplace.
- Coordinate plant labor to effectively manage costs.
- Manage the activities of receiving, pitting, processing, packaging, warehousing, shipping, and maintenance through direct reports.
- Meet the production schedule.
- Maintain plant cleanliness to ensure all regulatory requirements and maintain a superior rating on plant compliance audits.
- Work with the Quality Assurance Personnel to ensure that all finished products meet product specifications.
- Oversee the timely completion of the Preventive Maintenance program.
- Coordinate needed plant and equipment repairs with the Plant Engineer.
- Assist in internal and external audits.
- Ensure employee safety remains at the forefront of all activities.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or equivalent years of experience.
- General knowledge of cherry processing, from arrival of incoming to finished goods.
- Excellent organizational skills.
