About the position

The Plant Manager at BWAY is responsible for ensuring the facility produces high-quality products efficiently and within budget. This role involves leading Lean Manufacturing initiatives, managing profit and loss, and overseeing various operational functions including safety, quality, and production. The Plant Manager will also focus on continuous improvement, staff development, and maintaining positive relationships with customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility provides the highest quality products produced efficiently within budgeted costs.
  • Implement systems to manage production schedules effectively.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing efforts and foster continuous improvement.
  • Manage profit and loss for the facility and review KPIs regularly.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts including cost reduction initiatives and capital planning.
  • Oversee safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and administrative functions.
  • Improve the plant's safety record and create a positive safety culture.
  • Conduct talent reviews and train, develop, and motivate staff.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings focusing on key operative measurements.
  • Schedule and conduct plant communication meetings for all employees.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers as necessary.
  • Establish positive community relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and/or process improvement roles.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection molding or metal processing.
  • Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with process development and business process design.
  • Experience managing to ISO or equivalent quality standards.
  • Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System like the Toyota Production Systems.
