About the position

The Plant Operations Manager at PSSI in Kieler, WI, is responsible for overseeing the chemical manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality across all production processes. This role involves leading a team of approximately 60 members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with various departments to optimize production and enhance customer experience. Responsibilities

  • Exemplify the company's core values in work and interactions with others.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to drive a high-performing safety culture.
  • Oversee all aspects of the chemical operations team at the facility, including safety performance and procedure development.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run day-to-day operations at the site.
  • Drive continual improvement by increasing production capacity while minimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.
  • Facilitate production output, product quality, and on-time shipping.
  • Allocate resources effectively to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide clear direction.
  • Develop an environment that values diversity and utilizes individual strengths.
  • Promote team member involvement and engagement in site programs.
  • Collect and drive data to identify waste or overtime.
  • Define and implement capital projects and training programs to meet goals.
  • Develop and ensure execution of site budgets.
  • Collaborate with departments to optimize production and maximize customer experience.
  • Inspire, motivate, and develop the operations team.
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
  • Strengthen enterprise relationships through effective communications.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations such as OSHA and EPA.
  • Supervise team in coordinating equipment maintenance activities.
  • Ensure timely completion of incident reports and action items.
  • Work with R&D, engineering, and maintenance to develop production plans for new products.
  • Reconcile physical and ERP system inventories at the close of each financial period.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10 or more years of progressive operations management experience with a proven track record.
  • Analytical with high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to engage team members positively and foster team building.
  • Effective communication and analytical skills, with persuasive abilities.
  • Experience maintaining a safety culture and developing EHS programs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across the enterprise to solve complex problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4-year degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Operations Management.
  • Ability to read and comprehend scientific and technical journals and financial reports.
  • Ability to respond to complex inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.
  • Process Control and Quality Control experience.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement techniques such as TQM, DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing.
