About the position

The Plant Operations Manager will play a crucial role in leading the Kansas facility of a well-established printing company. This position requires an experienced individual who can oversee all aspects of production, including prepress, wide format digital printing, dye sublimation, direct to fabric printing, finishing, sewing, shipping, warehouse, fulfillment, and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial health of the plant, ensuring on-time deliveries, and driving process improvements and waste reduction initiatives. The role demands a strong leader who can effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, from machine operators to C-level executives, to implement long-term strategies aimed at achieving operational excellence. In this position, the Plant Operations Manager will supervise the entire printing process, from pre-press through to shipping, providing leadership and direction to all production employees. The manager will be tasked with planning, scheduling, and directing production priorities based on customer needs and best practices. Additionally, the role involves hiring, coaching, developing, and training team members in a fast-paced environment, while also forecasting and organizing production to maximize productivity, quality, and safety. The manager will be expected to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) and control costs in a metrics-driven environment, while also working closely with executive management to align operational goals with company objectives. The Plant Operations Manager will also be responsible for troubleshooting fabric and textile printing issues, establishing and administering the budget, and holding responsibility for profit and loss (P&L). The role includes recommending new processes, software, technologies, and equipment, as well as monitoring industry trends to stay ahead of the competition. Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows will also be a key aspect of this position, ensuring that the company remains informed about current innovations and best practices in the printing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aspects of the printing from pre-press through shipping and provide leadership and direction to all production employees
  • Plan, schedule, and direct production and manufacturing priorities according to customers' needs and company best practices
  • Hire, lead, coach, develop, and train team members within a fast-paced environment
  • Forecast, schedule, plan, organize, provide strategic direction, and monitor all printing production to achieve maximum productivity, quality, and safety
  • Meet or exceed KPI objectives, and control costs within a metrics driven environment
  • Work hand in hand with executive management
  • Troubleshooting fabric and textile printing
  • Establish and administer the budget and hold responsibility for P&L
  • Recommend new processes, software, technologies, equipment, and monitor industry trends
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
  • Stay up to date on current industry innovations and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial and manufacturing management of a production team within a fabric or textile printing facility
  • A proven track record of supervising a team within a fast-paced printing environment, while reducing costs, and maintaining a high level of safety and quality
  • Proven track record in hands-on operations management, emphasizing strategic planning, production planning, and manufacturing
  • Must be knowledgeable in dye sublimation and direct to garment/DTG digital printing as well as finishing, cutting, and sewing techniques to produce textiles, fabrics, garments, flags, banners and fashion
  • Knowledge of inkjet large format (roll to roll and flatbed) and small format digital printing a plus
  • Strong color visual acuity and experience with G7
  • Ability to hire, coach, mentor, and train within a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate and experience with Microsoft Office and print management software
  • Currently live or be able to relocate to the Southwest of Kansas City area
  • Ability to travel to industry events, conferences, and trade shows
