About the position
The Plant Operations Technician is responsible for maintaining, operating, monitoring, and repairing all utilities and related central plant equipment within a healthcare setting. This role ensures that the central plant is kept in good working condition, performs preventative maintenance, and responds to maintenance requests efficiently. The technician actively documents all activities and maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate central plant equipment and utilities.
- Respond to maintenance requests for assistance in hospital and clinic facilities.
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on all equipment in a timely manner.
- Document all activities and maintenance tasks accurately.
- Monitor and operate power plant equipment to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Adjust heating/cooling schedules using the Energy Management System based on building loads.
- Conduct building rounds and equipment inspections, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor under stressful conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Operating Engineering preferred.
- Experience with water treatment for heating and cooling systems.
- Experience using HVAC/Temperature controls and Energy Management Systems.
- Current 2nd Class Engineers Certificate for Air Condition/Refrigeration required if working in Orleans Parish; preferred for Boilers & Air Condition.
- Basic math skills and good written and verbal communication skills.
