About the position
The Plant Operator I position at DT Midstream involves the day-to-day operations and maintenance of natural gas gathering and treatment facilities. The role focuses on ensuring safe and efficient operation of pipeline equipment, compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining a proactive safety culture. Operators will be responsible for monitoring equipment, performing minor maintenance, and collaborating with supervisors and contract labor to improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operate natural gas pipeline associated equipment such as compressors, dehydrators, and valves.
- Perform start-up and shutdown of equipment and adjust controls using HMI.
- Visually inspect equipment and controls to detect malfunctions or need for repair.
- De-pressurize and purge equipment and pipelines as necessary.
- Conduct gas leakage investigations and surveys.
- Implement safe work practices and ensure safety for employees and the public.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and record-keeping requirements.
- Monitor and record various operational conditions such as pressures and temperatures.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment including changing filters and lubricating fluids.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work site and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with supervisors on operational improvements and special projects.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in natural gas processing, compression, and/or pipeline operations.
- Ability to function autonomously and lead work crews.
- Thorough knowledge of O&M manual and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and physical perceptive skills.
