About the position

The Plant Procurement Manager at Schneider Electric is responsible for managing the procurement processes at the Columbia, MO location. This role is critical in ensuring that the plant meets its purchasing objectives by overseeing supplier performance, quality, delivery, and productivity while aligning with the company's strategic goals. The manager will engage in supplier consultation, selection, and contract negotiation, as well as lead initiatives for quality and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships between the purchasing organization and plant manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure plants meet their purchasing objectives through execution and monitoring.
  • Oversee supplier performance management, including quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Propose actions to mitigate risks related to raw material shortages and improve supplier quality.
  • Collaborate with commodity managers on localization and business allocation changes.
  • Manage supplier consultation and selection according to commodity strategy.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with local suppliers.
  • Update purchasing database with necessary information and spend data.
  • Act as the first escalation level for supplier crisis management.
  • Follow up on quality and cost reduction objectives related to productivity programs.
  • Initiate and manage projects related to supplier changes and quality improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in procurement/sourcing (direct material).
  • At least 2-3 years in a managerial position.
  • Extensive experience in negotiations and category strategies.
  • Strong communication and influential skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and practices.
