About the position

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for driving improvements in plant infrastructure, process equipment, and production processes through both capital and non-capital projects. The primary focus is on ensuring the health and safety of all site-level employees while managing various engineering projects to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Define, manage, and complete capital and non-capital projects to meet objectives
  • Support a safe working environment and report unsafe acts or conditions
  • Coordinate the design, construction, fabrication, installation, start-up, and modification of plant facilities, equipment, and systems
  • Utilize a cross-functional team approach to ensure open communication
  • Provide general engineering support for day-to-day business needs
  • Make technical and financial decisions on projects for safe and efficient operations
  • Select vendors and contractors
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for efficient process and product implementation
  • Make decisions affecting the reliability and efficiency of plant equipment
  • Create documentation to support project implementation and execution
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field
  • Minimum of two (2) years in capital and non-capital mechanical project management in a manufacturing setting
  • Understanding of mechanics and machine forces
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, CAD)
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
