About the position

The Plant Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for managing plant assets through the coordination and development of annual budgets, while analyzing performance against established budgets. This role emphasizes maintaining and improving the performance of the plant in areas such as Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR), and the Customer 1st strategy. The position requires providing leadership that embodies the principles of the Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System and demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plant assets through the coordination and development of annual budgets.
  • Analyze performance against established budgets.
  • Provide leadership that embodies the Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for financial matters between the plant and corporate offices.
  • Review company financial records for accuracy and compliance with policy.
  • Perform period, quarterly, and yearly closing functions, including journal approvals and reviews.
  • Prepare financial reports for the group controller and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop financial analyses, including trends, discrepancies, and opportunities.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new products and analyze pricing for outside sales.
  • Investigate new business opportunities for financial viability.
  • Analyze capital projects to ensure they meet company requirements.
  • Control physical and liquid assets, reviewing and approving expenditures.
  • Supervise office staff and provide coaching and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or union environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Hyperion Essbase.
  • Experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
