About the position

The Plasma Center EMT-Paramedic position at BioLife Plasma Services involves determining donor eligibility for plasma donation, managing donor adverse events, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires working under the supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a clean and professional environment. This position also includes responsibilities related to employee health and safety, as well as supporting operational improvements within the center.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including informed consent and medical history interviews.
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies.
  • Manage donor deferrals and notify donors of unsuitable test results as per SOPs.
  • Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI).
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Conduct pre-placement evaluations of new hires and maintain employee medical records.
  • Administer first aid to employees as needed and act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Greet donors and perform necessary health checks, including pulse and blood pressure measurements.
  • Enter donor information into the Donor Information System (DIS).
  • Coordinate with other center roles to ensure safety and provide an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized educational program in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
