About the position

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and providing medical support under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician. This position is essential for maintaining high standards of customer service and quality in plasma collection, contributing to the production of life-changing medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation, including informed consent and medical history interviews.
  • Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency services.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as an EMT-Paramedic.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
