About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician. The role is essential in collecting high-quality plasma that contributes to life-changing medicines.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs.
- Refer unacceptable findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance.
- Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation needs.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
