About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and providing medical support under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician. This position is vital in maintaining high standards of customer service and quality in plasma collection, contributing to the production of life-changing medicines.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical guidance.
- Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program.
- Currently licensed or certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
