About the position

The Plastics Manufacturing Engineer will lead process development and improvements for a leading supplier in the rail, construction, and heavy truck industries. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing productivity, and ensuring quality in the production of thermoformed products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document processes, tooling, and new product development for thermoformed products
• Optimize productivity by reducing cycle time, improving quality, reducing scrap, and lowering operating costs through continual process improvement
• Initiate and assist with capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing plant capabilities through new equipment purchase or facility modification
• Develop and monitor training plans to ensure personnel are versed in new process requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar engineering field
• Minimum of 5 years direct manufacturing experience
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other Lean tools
• General knowledge or experience with thermoforming, reaction injection molding (RIM), compression molding (SMC), material testing, assembly, and bonding

Nice-to-haves

• SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience
