About the position

The Platform Mechanical Design Engineer (Hardware) at KBR is responsible for the design and modification of mechanical systems for NASA/JSC Mission Systems. This role involves working with CAD tools, conducting mechanical systems stress analysis, and generating engineering drawings. The engineer will collaborate in a team environment to improve hardware engineering processes and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Generate technical instructions for implementation
  • Create facility diagrams for hardware projects
  • Review and edit design documents
  • Monitor project implementation
  • Design and scale hardware components using AutoCAD and Creo
  • Monitor vendor installations
  • Perform hardware assessments of changes impacting mechanical systems
  • Suggest improvements to Hardware Engineering processes
  • Provide remediation and mitigation solutions for vulnerabilities
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct incident and risk management
  • Support system projects and new engineering initiatives
  • Perform hazard analysis and risk management analysis of designs and modifications

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Creo
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and structural principles
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills

Nice-to-haves
