About the position
The Machine Operator I position at Fisk Alloy Wire, INC is responsible for manufacturing high-quality wire products according to customer specifications. The role involves following work order instructions, setting up machines, and ensuring production standards are met while maintaining safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Determine sequence of operations by reading and understanding work orders.
- Prepare machines for production by positioning and securing dies and adjusting controls.
- Plan work assignments by clarifying instructions and gathering materials.
- Conduct operator inspections and perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment.
- Keep equipment operating by troubleshooting breakdowns and performing maintenance.
- Follow the general manufacturing process, including initial set-up and operating equipment.
- Load and unload products from machines and complete production to specifications.
- Report production problems to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Document production actions using the production posting system.
- Ensure quality standards are met through inspections and reporting defects.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of manufacturing-related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and use simple math.
- Competent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and document management.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with measurement tools and basic machining processes.
- Ability to assist in training individuals in the machining process.
