About the position

The Plating Operator is responsible for operating various chemical plating lines to ensure accurate cycles for plating metals and other materials onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role involves working with hazardous chemicals and requires chemical handling training. The operator will perform various tasks related to PCB processing, including manual plating and quality checks, while adhering to safety measures and departmental procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate wet process equipment for PCB panel processing including manual copper plating, solder plating, silver immersion, gold immersion, electroless copper, electrolytic gold, outer layer etching, organic coating, and hot air level processing.
  • Set and maintain chemical processing equipment within operational parameters.
  • Manually set timers on manual chemical lines and monitor when timers are completed.
  • Cautiously load racks in plating tanks while ensuring proper temperature/current of baths.
  • Read blueprints and traveler documents to produce and move products according to customer specifications and verify that all previous operations were completed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all chemical machines as workload allows.
  • Follow all departmental process procedures correctly.
  • Complete all departmental documentation accurately.
  • Complete quality checks when product arrives in and exits the department.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management and cross-train as needed to assist production.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of shift.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, customer specifications, and procedures.
  • Basic math, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and computer skills.
  • Must possess interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Follow all safety measures.

  • Previous chemical handling experience preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous PCB experience preferred.
