About the position

The Play-by-Play Board Operator, Part-Time position at SiriusXM involves managing all aspects of sports game broadcasts, ensuring quality control, and effectively communicating with various teams. This role is crucial in delivering a seamless audio experience for listeners during live sports events.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of sports play-by-play game broadcasts including quality control.
  • Audition audio elements prior to broadcast.
  • Play commercials and promos during breaks.
  • Follow game format and log game highlights.
  • Communicate with sports newsrooms, supervisors, engineers, and operations as needed.
  • Check audio equipment for proper functioning prior to going to air.
  • Report technical problems and equipment malfunctions to engineers and operations.
  • Confirm audio feed provided is correct for the scheduled game broadcast.
  • Maintain knowledge of players and storylines involved in the game broadcast.
  • Update the score of the game.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience running an audio board for a sports talk show or play-by-play event.
  • Strong knowledge of sports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task under shifting deadlines.
  • Previous use of Digital Audio Workstation software preferred.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
