About the position

The Player Development Curriculum & Program Development Manager at the NBA is responsible for creating and evolving curriculums that focus on the personal and professional development of players. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including engaging with young athletes, supporting players transitioning into professional careers, and facilitating their growth throughout their playing careers. The manager will also adapt curriculum content to meet the evolving needs of players, ensuring that it reflects their cultural identities and personal experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve existing and develop new curriculums focused on personal and professional development in key areas such as financial literacy and relationship skills.
  • Cultivate capacities for growth including curiosity, imagination, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Encourage ongoing evolution and learning focused on identity, relationships, and off-court interests.
  • Establish systems for adapting existing resources and creating new curriculums that reflect players' cultural identities.
  • Build and deliver companion curriculum and program materials for team-based staff use.
  • Lead outreach and maintain partnerships with team staff and external education experts.
  • Develop and coordinate cohorts of current and former players for curriculum integration.
  • Lead cross-departmental projects to leverage league expertise in curriculum development.
  • Develop and execute the delivery of curriculums across various platforms.
  • Work closely with the Head of Player Development to ensure alignment with the department's mission.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and balance multiple priorities.
