About the position
The PLC Programmer Lead is responsible for writing and verifying PLC and OIT programs to ensure they meet project specifications. This role involves bench testing, shop testing, and troubleshooting during startup and post-commissioning phases. The position also requires training and supporting other programmers while contributing to the development of departmental best practices and standards.
Responsibilities
- Write PLC and OIT programs according to project specifications.
- Verify functionality of PLC and OIT systems through testing.
- Perform bench testing and shop testing during startup and post-commissioning.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during the testing and commissioning phases.
- Train and assist other programmers in their development.
- Contribute to the development of departmental best practices and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of related experience in PLC programming.
- Applied knowledge in programming major manufacturers' PLCs and OITs, including Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, and Siemens.
- Excellent understanding of computer operations and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of instruments and electro-mechanical devices used for process control.
- Understanding of client best practices.
