About the position

We are urgently seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to join our engineering team in Boyertown, PA. This full-time role is essential for designing, programming, testing, and maintaining PLC systems used in industrial automation processes within the plastics manufacturing industry. The PLC Programmer will collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure manufacturing systems operate efficiently and reliably while integrating machine data into the ERP system for real-time monitoring and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and program PLC systems to meet project requirements.
  • Configure and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software, focusing on plastics production lines.
  • Design and implement control systems for automated machinery and processes.
  • Debug, test, and optimize PLC programs to ensure proper functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine-to-machine communication protocols like OPC UA Codesys.
  • Gather real-time data from manufacturing machines and ensure seamless integration with ERP systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance teams.
  • Maintain documentation of PLC programs, configurations, and modifications.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new automation technologies.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years in PLC programming and industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages, including Ladder Logic.
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
  • Expertise in OPC UA Codesys for machine-to-machine communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python programming (highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with additional tools and protocols, including Modbus, HMI, SCADA systems.
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi for automation applications.
  • Familiarity with IQMS/Delmia ERP systems.
