About the position

The PLC Technician/Engineer will be responsible for designing, assembling, programming, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading electronic and electrical manufacturing and facilities equipment. This role requires expertise in PLC programming and familiarity with machine control systems, as well as knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, and pneumatics to effectively maintain and enhance control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and planned maintenance on production equipment and facilities.
  • Refurbishing of production equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are functioning correctly on equipment and facilities.
  • Electrical troubleshooting, wiring, rewiring and electrical repair.
  • Repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on machines and infrastructure.
  • Rebuilding and design of Electrical and Control systems.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of new equipment.
  • Project work to assist Engineering on new designs and layout improvements.
  • Identification of parts needed for stock and for repairs and PM.
  • Assist the Maintenance Buyer in part identification and sourcing where necessary.
  • Safe and proper operation of hand and machine tools, electronic testing equipment, distribution boards, switchgear, buss bars, substations and other high voltage equipment.
  • Safe and proper moving and reconnection of new and existing equipment.
  • PLC and other control system design, repair and troubleshooting.
  • Thorough understanding of electronic, control and wiring diagrams.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience and certification(s)
  • 5+ years heavy manufacturing experience
  • Proven ability to safely and properly design, create, repair, install and troubleshoot electrical, electronic and control systems.
  • Possesses requisite math, writing, reading and communication skills.
  • Possess good problem solving skills.
  • Must be well versed in OSHA requirements and the application thereof.
  • Experience in maintenance of manufacturing and control equipment.
  • Proven understanding of wiring/hydraulic/pneumatic/logic drawings as used in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
