About the position

The University of Miami UHealth/SoLé Mia is set to open in June 2025, bringing high-quality academic medicine to North Miami, Aventura, and surrounding communities. This facility will feature a diverse team of expert physicians and staff across various specialties, including the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which is recognized as the number-one eye hospital in the nation. UHealth at SoLé Mia will also provide advanced urologic treatments from the renowned Desai Sethi Urology Institute, along with exceptional care from UHealth's nationally ranked neurology and neurosurgery programs. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Plumber, with a hire date of December 2024, to join our team. The Plumber will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining plumbing fixtures in heating, water, and drainage systems to ensure the safe functioning and quality of all systems throughout the facilities. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our plumbing systems and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients. The Plumber will engage in various tasks, including identifying electrical, plumbing, and safety issues, reading and interpreting blueprints, and maintaining piping systems. The position requires a commitment to cleanliness and safety in work areas and equipment rooms, as well as the ability to perform maintenance and repair work across multiple trades. The successful candidate will also be responsible for keeping accurate logs of major components, cleaning and painting equipment, and performing various plumbing repairs and installations. This role is essential in supporting the overall mission of UHealth/SoLé Mia to provide top-notch medical care.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain plumbing fixtures in heating, water, and drainage systems.
  • Identify electrical, plumbing, and safety problems and take corrective action.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to repair plumbing systems.
  • Maintain piping systems by opening clogged drains, replacing washers, and repairing leaky faucets.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment rooms in a clean and safe condition.
  • Receive requests for corrective repair work on building structures and utilize various trades' skills for maintenance and repair work.
  • Repair panels, partitions, and other building structures; install building parts and perform carpentry work.
  • Keep daily logs on major components and maintain accurate records on equipment and facility preventative maintenance.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as valves, faucets, traps, sewers, and vents.
  • Mix and make concrete and mortar; construct and set forms for concrete.
  • Repair leaky or old building roofs and locate sources of roof leaks.
  • Routinely maintain and repair circulator and sump pumps, refrigeration unit's drains, and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct backflow preventer tests and operate heating and cooling systems pumps.
  • Erect scaffolding to provide access to work areas and work from heights.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
