About the position
Service Experts is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Plumber Helper in Grand Island, Nebraska. In this role, you will provide essential assistance and support to our HVAC and Plumbing team in various plumbing tasks and projects. The primary focus of this position is to assist licensed plumbers with installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems. As a Plumber Helper, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that are crucial to the successful operation of plumbing services, ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality of service. Your responsibilities will include carrying tools, equipment, and supplies to and from work areas, preparing job sites by setting up necessary tools and materials, and digging trenches or excavating ditches as required for plumbing installations or repairs. You will also measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using appropriate tools and techniques, assist in the assembly and installation of plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters, and connect pipes using fittings, soldering, welding, or other approved methods. Additionally, you will inspect plumbing systems to identify any defects or issues, assist in troubleshooting plumbing problems, and ensure that job sites are cleaned up and waste materials are disposed of properly. Safety is a top priority at Service Experts, and as a Plumber Helper, you will be expected to follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. This includes reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to your supervisor, using and maintaining appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and participating in safety initiatives and committees. The ideal candidate for this position should possess basic knowledge of plumbing systems, excellent communication skills, and a strong work ethic, along with a willingness to learn and grow within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed plumbers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, drains, and water heaters.
- Carry tools, equipment, and supplies to and from work areas.
- Prepare job sites by setting up necessary tools and materials.
- Dig trenches, excavate ditches, and create access points as required for plumbing installations or repairs.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Assist in the assembly and installation of plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters.
- Connect pipes using fittings, soldering, welding, or other approved methods.
- Inspect plumbing systems and identify any defects or issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting plumbing problems and propose appropriate solutions.
- Clean up job sites and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar plumbing or construction role is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
