About the position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced plumber to join our team at Oklahoma State University. The ideal candidate will have a background in installing and repairing a wide range of plumbing systems and fixtures. This position involves ensuring compliance with local, state, and BOCA codes while performing various plumbing tasks, including inspections, installations, and repairs. The successful candidate will also provide support and guidance on proper materials and methods for plumbing installations and repairs, and may assist with operations, maintenance, and renovation tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, install, and repair plumbing fixtures such as hot and cold water systems, vent pipes, condensate drains, and water fountains.
  • Install or assist with the installation of new plumbing fixtures using proper materials and methods.
  • Conduct repairs on existing plumbing systems including toilets, drains, sinks, and small pumps.
  • Inspect water heaters of all sizes for proper functionality and safety.
  • Provide support and guidance on proper materials, methods, and practices for plumbing installations and repairs.
  • Assist with operations, maintenance, and renovation tasks, including preventive maintenance, light carpentry, painting, and electrical work.
  • Respond to emergency and urgent maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and one year of prior successful work experience in plumbing for Plumber I.
  • High school diploma/GED and two years of prior successful work experience in plumbing for Plumber II.
  • High school diploma/GED and three years of prior successful work experience in plumbing for Plumber III, requiring a Journeyman license before hire.
  • High school diploma/GED and five years of prior successful work experience in plumbing for Plumber IV, requiring a Plumber's Contract license before hire.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing codes and installation requirements.
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and completely.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with little to no supervision.
