The Plumber I position at the University of Central Missouri is a full-time role within the Facilities Management department, specifically under the supervision of the Supervisor of Night Maintenance. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain, repair, and implement preventative maintenance for the Night Maintenance Shop of Crafts and Trades. This includes completing routine and emergency work orders, as well as performing assigned preventive maintenance tasks. The role requires a proactive approach to plumbing system maintenance and repair, ensuring that all systems are functioning efficiently and effectively. Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with formal training in plumbing preferred. While six months of experience in the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems is required, completion of a plumbing-related trade school may substitute for this experience. Additional skills in HVAC, carpentry, or electrical maintenance are preferred, enhancing the candidate's versatility in handling various trades. The position demands a strong attention to detail and physical abilities, including mobility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and endurance. The successful candidate will demonstrate general mechanical and electrical abilities, as well as a solid understanding of systems operations, including steam, air conditioning, plumbing, and refrigeration. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics is essential, along with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
