About the position

The Plumber II position at Texas State University is a journey-level role responsible for the repair, replacement, and maintenance of various plumbing systems and fixtures. This position requires a valid Texas Journeyman Plumber License and involves working independently as well as part of a team to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues, including emergency responses. The role also includes after-hours on-call duties and requires driving university vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, or maintain plumbing, sewer, and related fixtures.
• Perform plumbing work assignments related to sinks, commodes, urinals, lavatories, showers, bathtubs, floor drains, water lines, and sewers.
• Exercise independent judgment on plumbing projects without direct supervision.

Requirements

• Valid Texas Journeyman (or higher) Plumber License.
• Plumbing experience and knowledge of all plumbing codes and laws, including safety procedures and regulations.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team troubleshooting and correcting plumbing challenges.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous employment experience as a plumber in government and/or higher education environment.
• Ability to effectively utilize blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency managing work orders using a portable electronic tablet/device.
• Experience with AiM and SAP.
