About the position

This position is for a full-time, year-round maintenance role located at the Olds Station & Euclid Plant. The working shift is during the day, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with potential variations depending on production needs. The role involves performing maintenance tasks, logging all maintenance activities, and working with chemicals on the production line. The candidate will be responsible for observing mechanical devices, dismantling them to access defective parts, inspecting and repairing parts, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment. Additionally, the position includes plumbing responsibilities such as small water line repairs and basic plumbing needs. The candidate will also collaborate with the fabrication shop in the recycling department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Logging all maintenance performed
  • Working with chemicals on the line
  • Observing mechanical devices in operation and listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examining form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  • Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Installing special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Lubricating and cleaning parts
  • Starting devices to test their performance
  • Initiating purchase orders for parts and machines
  • Analyzing equipment for preventative maintenance
  • Maintaining date information for packing lines, including completion
  • Organizing parts, machinery, and line items
  • Maintaining current training for new equipment or machinery
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Performing small water line repairs and working with pumps and solenoids
  • Addressing basic plumbing needs such as clogged drains and replacing fixtures
  • Collaborating with the fabrication shop in the recycling department when needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • 1 year of strong mechanical, electrical, and computerized background in line equipment
  • Several years of experience in commercial plumbing, water lines, air lines, and underground pipe installations
  • Good mechanical comprehension and understanding of fruit packing chemicals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Flexibility with working schedule, including some weekend work
  • Personal tools required
  • Knowledge of fruit packing lines
