About the position

The Plumbing & Drain Technician role at Maxwell Plumb involves providing essential drain cleaning and maintenance services to customers. The technician will be responsible for performing various tasks related to drain cleaning, including jetting and cabling, while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards. This position requires a blend of technical skills, customer service, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all drain cleaning, jetting, and cable work related to in-home service calls.
  • Provide camera service for every mainline stoppage within 24 hours of the report.
  • Establish customer rapport to provide the right products and services.
  • Educate and assist customers on the importance of sewer repair and replacement.
  • Help customers select the right maintenance plan and understand warranty information.
  • Explain reasons for blockage and illustrate how to resolve the issue.
  • Understand service criteria and hold oneself accountable for exceeding revenue goals.
  • Present oneself as professional and knowledgeable to win new referrals and repeat business.
  • Work alongside customer service and dispatch to ensure overall business success.
  • Protect drain cleaning and camera equipment and maintain a well-inventoried truck.
  • Participate actively in training exercises, morning meetings, trade shows, and retreats.
  • Train and mentor apprentices to ensure quick, accurate repairs.
  • Be accurate and timely with invoices, time cards, curbside feedback, and options sheets.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in drain cleaning or a related field.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including climbing, digging, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Proficient in using cabling machines, hand tools, and heavy equipment for drain maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques for underground drainage systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures when working with high voltage equipment is essential.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
