The successful candidate shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision from a Sr. Plumbing/Fire Protection engineer for tasks such as the development of Plumbing and Fire Protection Construction documents (drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.) using computer software for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment for review by Sr. Engineer. You will be responsible for the design of Plumbing and Fire protection systems in mission critical facilities, working on multiple projects simultaneously, and coordinating with other internal engineering disciplines to achieve successful, functional and innovative designs for our clients. You will also coordinate with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent, assist with the development of job specific discipline specifications, and perform field surveys to document existing conditions and/or observe construction activities. Engaging in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats is essential. You will perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software, prepare Contract Documents using Revit and AutoCAD software, create technical drawings, plans, and specifications for review by Sr. Engineer, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget. Light travel for project meetings and site observations is expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • EIT/PE a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems, Mission Critical design experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and skilled in software typically used in plumbing/fire protection design (i.e. hydraulic calculations).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office programs; Revit Experience is a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Must be self-motivated and know project design steps/requirements.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong working knowledge of building, plumbing and fire codes.
