About the position

The Plumbing Service Manager at ARS/Rescue Rooter is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and servicing of plumbing systems in various settings, including residential and commercial. This role involves managing a team of plumbing staff, ensuring effective production, maintaining customer relations, and achieving operational objectives. The manager will also handle budgeting, scheduling, and quality control while providing leadership and support to the plumbing team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and develops the plumbing staff, including hiring, terminating, and disciplining employees.
  • Schedules employees and sets work priorities to ensure effective production.
  • Conducts staff meetings and evaluates performance of plumbing staff.
  • Interfaces with builders, contractors, homeowners, architects, and project managers to identify service needs.
  • Evaluates workload and schedules installation and service work to maximize profits.
  • Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Communicates regularly with plumbing staff to assist in providing estimates and resolving problems.
  • Ensures materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs.
  • Oversees general inventory control and sets up pricing structures.
  • Generates reports on departmental operations and reviews them with management.
  • Instructs crews on proper use of materials and quality workmanship.
  • Drives to job sites to monitor production and efficiency of technicians.
  • Reviews payroll records to ensure technicians are paid properly.
  • Assists in the dispatching operation to ensure appropriate technician selection for service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 6-8 years of journeyman-level experience in plumbing required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong supervisory, computer, and mathematical skills required.
  • Strong communication and human relations skills required.
  • Unrestricted Journeyman license preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a customer service-based industry preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of local and national plumbing codes.
  • Related experience and/or advanced training in plumbing.
