About the position

The PM Shift Caregiver is responsible for providing routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan. This role involves assisting residents with personal care activities, household services, and promoting social engagement, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of the nurse.
  • Perform personal care activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, skin care/nail care, oral hygiene, and shaving.
  • Perform household services essential to health care at home including meal preparation/feeding, laundry, and light housekeeping.
  • Initiate and participate in leisure activities for residents, encouraging socialization and friendship development.
  • Observe and document the health and emotional condition of each resident, reporting changes to the nurse.
  • Respond promptly to resident requests for assistance and emergency pull cords.
  • Promote personal safety and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices and reporting unsafe situations.
  • Assist residents in preparing and transporting for appointments and social programs.
  • Assist with moving and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, and wheelchairs.
  • Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.

Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the general public.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and understand English effectively.
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant or a licensed Medication Assistant in accordance with state laws.
  • Prefer 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.
