About the position

The PM5 Maintenance Planner position at Clearwater Paper Corp in Shelby, NC, is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in the maintenance operations of the facility. The Shelby location is Clearwater Paper's newest consumer products facility, featuring two paper mills on a sprawling 400-acre site with over 600 dedicated employees. The facility is known for producing a variety of high-quality premium and ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, and napkins for major retail outlets across the United States. The state-of-the-art technology utilized at this facility includes 10 converting lines, 54 laser-guided vehicles, and 2 high-speed paper machines, enabling the production of large quantities of products efficiently. As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive maintenance plans that encompass the materials required, man hours needed, the sequence of activities, and necessary support services. Your role will involve initiating preventative maintenance and coordinating regular activities, which will include hands-on field measurements and verification of field parts. You will also be tasked with developing short, mid, and long-term maintenance plans for equipment, monitoring and tracking internal labor and materials through the JDE work order system, and overseeing the notification flow and backlog within the system. In addition to these responsibilities, you will conduct maintenance log audits and assist in creating equipment inspection procedures in collaboration with the maintenance and electrical departments. Participation in scheduled Operations review meetings, facilitating maintenance shift hand-off meetings, and issuing daily work orders for the electrical and mechanical teams will also be part of your duties. You will work closely with the Storeroom Coordinator to plan and schedule spare parts, material reservations, and work order kitting for planned jobs. Developing Gantt charts for outage jobs and projects will be essential, as will holding yourself and others to high safety standards, ensuring compliance with workplace safety policies and procedures. You will also participate in safety incidents as needed and assist in investigating root causes to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop maintenance plans, including materials used, man hours needed, sequence of activities, and support services.
  • Assist in initiating preventative maintenance and coordinate regular activities.

  • Attend scheduled Operations review meetings as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Facilitate the maintenance shift hand-off (SHO) meetings and issue daily work orders for the electrical and mechanical team.
  • Work with the Storeroom Coordinator to plan and schedule spares, material reservations, and work order kitting for planned jobs.
  • Assist in filling purchase requisitions.
  • Develop Gantt charts for outage jobs and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures and appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in safety incidents and help investigate root causes.
  • Maintain a clean and debris-free work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated mechanical experience or 3 years of related education in lieu of experience required.
  • Internal candidates must have completed a minimum of Level 5 Qualification.
  • Maintenance planning experience preferred.
  • Experience in working with computerized maintenance systems preferred.
