About the position

The PMO Program Manager will play a crucial role in the Risk and Finance division of a major Investment Bank, focusing on the end-to-end planning and implementation of strategic initiatives. This position is designed to manage and prioritize a portfolio of tactical projects while standardizing processes and tools across the organization. The PMO Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that project management processes align with best practices and are effectively implemented across the Risk and Finance organization. In this role, the PMO Program Manager will support the annual divisional budgeting process and provide comprehensive financial management for the program and project portfolio. This includes producing detailed reports and scorecards that reflect the status and health of various projects. The individual will interface with the central PMO for Risk and Finance, ensuring that all deliverables meet high-quality standards throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The PMO Program Manager will also coach project managers on both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, facilitating cross-functional meetings to ensure that all topics are prepared and presented effectively. Continuous monitoring of project plans, critical dependencies, and delivery progress will be essential to keep programs and projects on track. The individual will coordinate with testing teams to resolve open items and issues, proactively identify risks, and drive timely mitigation strategies. Change management processes will be a key focus, ensuring that they are executed properly throughout the project life cycle. Additionally, the PMO Program Manager will manage communication and agendas with project working teams across IT, Operations, and other stakeholders, driving decisions and consensus in alignment with program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Standardize and manage project management processes and tools across the Risk and Finance organization according to best practices
  • Support annual divisional budgeting process and provide program and project portfolio financial management
  • Produce program and project portfolio reports and scorecards
  • Interface with the Risk and Finance central PMO
  • Drive high quality of all deliverables across complete SDLC
  • Coach PMs as needed on SDLC (waterfall and Agile) and PM best practices
  • Host cross-functional program and project portfolio meetings, formulate agenda, ensure topics and presenters are ready
  • Monitor project plans, critical dependencies, and delivery progress on an ongoing basis
  • Manage schedule aggressively to ensure programs/projects stay on track
  • Coordinate with testing teams and drive resolution of open items and issues
  • Identify risks proactively, drive timely mitigation, and escalate to management appropriately
  • Ensure proper change management processes are executed across the project life cycle
  • Manage and drive programs agenda and communication with the project working teams, across IT, Operations and other key stakeholders
  • Drive decisions and consensus with partners in alignment with programs objectives

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of combined project management and IT experience required; with at least 5 years in Project Management and/or Project Management Office
  • Proven experience with global projects in multiple technologies, and functions
  • Advanced knowledge of SDLC (Waterfall and Agile) with experience in supporting transition from Waterfall to Agile a plus
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of SharePoint, including site management, forms, workflow, templates and reports automations
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in project management tools such as Clarity, Jira, HP ALM, Microsoft Project, and Excel
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to be tactful yet assertive with strong collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting project status
  • Ability to develop strong client and working relationships with the team
  • Ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work
  • Experience in managing project schedules, tracking project completion, and reporting progress effectively to management
  • Experience in IT Business management functions
  • Technical application development experience strongly preferred
  • PMI certification a plus
  • Experience in Risk and Finance Technology with domain knowledge across asset classes preferred
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related Information Technology field
