The Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory Care (ACOS, AC) at the West Texas VA Healthcare System is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all primary care and related clinical programs within the system. This includes the management of Clinical Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and Outreach Clinics. The position is designed for a physician or podiatrist, and it emphasizes the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and compassionate care to veteran patients. The ACOS will work closely with the Chief of Staff to ensure that facility programs align with the mission and priorities of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the Network Office (VISN) 17. In this role, the ACOS will be clinically and fiscally responsible for the timely delivery of care, promoting the development of healthcare professionals through mentoring and teaching, and ensuring compliance with VA regulations and professional standards. The position requires a strong focus on continuous performance improvement, with the ACOS expected to lead clinical staff in embodying the VHA's core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. The ACOS will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with affiliated medical schools and programs, ensuring that medical staff comply with agency regulations and standards, and creating an environment that fosters high ethical and clinical standards. The role consists of approximately 25% clinical responsibilities and 75% administrative duties, including overseeing the day-to-day operations of Primary Care in Big Spring, CBOCs, and the Outreach Clinic. This position is a permanent, full-time role with a competitive salary range of $265,000 to $320,000, and it requires some travel (25% or less).
